Way back before the dawn of time for some of you, I was an adolescent preteen growing up in a small mill town in Eastern Va. At the time, this place was the center of my universe. Anywhere else was just somewhere you just didn't want to be. That really has nothing to do with my post here, but that was the mentalilty when I lived there. It may still be that mentality for those who never left.
Little did I know how much of a different world was out there. Thank goodness for tv. It brought all of the beauty of the outside world to our little neck of the woods even if there were only three channels to choose from. At least there was something to watch back then.
At that age it was important to decorate your room with posters of heros or sports players or black light posters and everything else psychodelic held onto from a few years earlier.
However, being the male preteen that I was, along with just about every other boy I knew, there came the time to redecorate those posters with ones that, well , lets just say, ones that looked more toward a positive future. We were in lust and we didn't even know it. Like I said, thank goodness for tv. If there were none, I would never have been exposed (I almost typed sexposed) to these worldly beauties.
Here are the ones I had in my room.
NO! I don't still have them, but somehow found them on line.
Some you may remember them. Ahhh, the memories.
A friend of mine gave me the ever immortal poster of Farrah in the swimsuit. I think my mom bought the other two for me. What a great mom?
What posters did you have?

I will spare you the comments on what I was doing in the 70's...crawling- haha. Couldn't resist.
ReplyDeleteYou are quite the blog celeb today. Enjoy it!
My brother had that second Farrah poster! I had a life-sized Clark Gable. *sigh I am old.
ReplyDeleteI finally mosied on over from BHE's blog...I know, I am a lame blogger...BUT the was an excuse and it involved the crappy economy and no commercial lending between banks which means I have no due diligence to perform on said properties. Anywhoo....I was not allowed to have posters as a child...I was deprived...so I will admit to what I would have had IF I had been allowed to have posters.
ReplyDeleteThe Carpenter's
Donny Osmond
David Partridge
Nice blog you got going on here, Cool Breeze. I will definitely be back to visit you.
P.S. Your wife totally rocks dude!
Marlene
I had the swimsuit Farrah. I cut off her head and hung that part so I could try to imitate her hairdo. No luck!
ReplyDeleteWELL,I CERTAINLY REMEMBER FARRAH.THE 2ND ONE OF COURSE EVERYONE,EVERYWHERE HAD IT.BUT I WAS RAISING LITTLE ONES THEN.BUT AS YOU SAY,I DID WATCH THE 3 CHANNELS.I DID KNOW THERE WAS A WORLD OUT THERE.THERE REALLY IS,ISN'T THERE?...ANN
ReplyDeleteOh, flashback! Along with posters, the ever cool Roach clip or two along with a lava lamp! Thanks for the memories! Now I feel old.....
ReplyDeleteTo all: I am at home alone on this dial-up crap. I am sorry BHE, this will be changing shortly.
ReplyDeleteDella - I knew you were just a puppy ... but, I do remember you speaking of grey hairs at some point ...
MPM - I've seen pics ... you're not that old ... or do you just take great pics
Spit - I've seen you're blog before ... sorry I have not been keeping up with you lately ... I know the economy right now. Why do you think I have time to blog?
Woody - You had the poster?
Ann - That tells me alot about you. I bet you had those wings back then.
Predo - I remember the roach clips ... the ones we used to get from the fair ... with the feathers.
ReplyDeleteI never had the lava lamp (though Snow White has one now) ... I had a "Wave Machine".
Well, Sean Cassidy of course. What self-respecting girl of the 70's & 80's wouldn't? Others that rotated through were Andy Gibb, Olivia Newton John, and movie posters.
ReplyDeleteI had pictures ripped out from my Tiger Beat magazines of Scott Baio and John Stamos.
ReplyDeleteThen I moved onto Duran Duran and Adam Ant. :0
DURAN DURAN baby. Simon Lebon and Nick ... whatever his last name was. LOVED them! How I miss Tiger Beat ...
ReplyDeleteUmmm...like BellaDella, I was too busy learning to walk and talk in the '70's ;O)
ReplyDeleteI have tatoos older than you people...that's all I'm saying...can you dig it??
ReplyDeleteI had the Linda Carter and the Farrah swimsuit. I also had a Cheryl Ladd swimsuit, red and white striped bikini, and her smoothing back her wet hair. I had a Kristy McNichol 8x10 photo I'd cut out of a magazine, but that may have been earlier. Had a couple blacklight posters of some kind of sailing ship and a dragon I think. Didn't you have a Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders poster, too? I seem to remember that on your wall.
